Hello from a long time bay window owner lurking in the uncharted territories of the Vanagon forums.

I have this question, for no other reason than my curiosity is overwhelmed:

I live in Northern Washington State, and happen to see Canadian Vanagon Westfalias quite often. I notice the electrical hook up is on the bottom rocker panel of the Canadian model, and not in the mid-body inline with the H2O hook ups.

What is the difference and WHY?

I think Canada had some other requirement to meet code.
I know the USA models have a male plug behind the electrical flap, and simply use a heavy gauge extension cord between the power source and van.
Our Canadian models have the plug hard wired to the van, you need to lift the flap and pull the cord out and plug in.
When you unplug, you need to open the small cupboard near the water tank, and pull the cable back into the cupboard for storage.
I think I would prefer the USA version myself.

My understanding is their code for physical distance between the water and electric hookups.

Canadian models also didn't get the drain tray over the stove due to worries that Canadians would try to use it to fry bacon.
