not really - I would say they will be very akin to Porsche Nikasil. I have pretty radical ideas on these. I will open an own thread on the engine. First I need to find someone making them for me... The design is altmost ready.
But you caught my teaser _________________ Stealth Ghia Transformation: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7226044&highlight=#7226044 |

Wow... it's been a year now
Very little progress during this time, but I will not complain... my family is healthy and we are dealing with these crazy times as good as we can.
I bought a small mill to support me in my projects... well the machine turned into a project by itself
Tranny is back from the builder and the pan back from welding. I am happy with the welds. The bulkhead turns out to be very solid now. I will share some pics below:
I bought CSP vented brakes with wide 5:
Was first worried, that they may not fit with my up-side-down steering knuckles idea... So I reamed them to fit the offset Golf/Rabbit knuckles and tried it out - and got lucky! Everything still works well.
I could not find a reamer with the correct taper so a good friend made me one from on old tap Thank you!!!
Finally I fulfilled myself a long time dream and bought throttle bodies that look like carburators with hidden injectors and sensor. I have been in contact with Jenvey on this for years. When they finally introduced them, I could not resist
Now I am waiting for warmer weather to get going on the chassis again.
Cheers and stay healthy!

Those look really cool. So they are set up to look like and mount like a regular Weber IDF but are actually fuel injectors? Interesting.

I like the way you have stiffened the Mendeola front frame, I am just starting to make some pieces for mine.
The issue seems to be the possibility of the the upper arm mounts might move forward or back relative to the lower arm mounts.
I see you have triangulated with the square tube and created box sections between the front 2 plates.
Is there any more we can't see in the photos?
your work keeps me thinking about how to improve these cars. "thumbs up" |

Hi Ian, Thanks!
If you check out all previous pics and read my comments you will find all the plates and bars I added. Two plates are to stiffen the sway bar mounts.
I think I have covered all the forces that will be transferred from the A-arms and steering rack into the bulk head. No weight added, as I have taken out some sheet metal as well.
Much much stronger than before. _________________ Stealth Ghia Transformation: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7226044&highlight=#7226044 |
