I picked this van up a few weeks ago, it had been sitting for a few years neglected and unused. It was amazing intact but didn't run so we put it on a trailer and drug home.
After some investigating I discovered the fuel pump wasn't working and after fixing that and adding a new battery it was up and running.
As Found
It had the bucket!
Original accessory Westy awning
Paint clean up begins...I compounded it first to remove the heavy oxidation.
you can see a difference between the rear quarter and the slider which hasn't been done
The original paint came out looking great, but the bumpers looked awful so I removed them this weekend finished buffing and waxing behind them then sanded and repainted the bumpers
front
rear
I also repainted the exhaust with high temp paint.
I got it legal last Friday and we took it on a 60 mile shake down drive yesterday and it runs great!
More updates to come! |

Great looking bus! So you decided to keep it?
Could you post more pictures of the awning? How does it attach to the drip rail? _________________ 1976 Westy

funny you should point that out it came with a bunch of NOS stuff from vw in one of the cabinets and there are extra seat belt hooks in the mix! |

Do you know the original mileage? I'd imagine pretty low. _________________ 1976 Westy

believe it or not this van has 120k miles on it. It must have been loved by the previous owner as its very clean and the carpet isn't hardly worn at all! |

I know a guy who would probably buy them if they were for sale and got hand delivered to the taco stand after CTS. You may also have to drive that guy to the taco stand as well.
Post up a pic of the rest of the goodies that came in the cabinet.
Sweet bus by the way. Need to find it a Super 6 and bracket.
