You really don't want to run 87 octane with this combo. I agree 1.4 rockers are too much for a dd car. I would run 1.25 and 1.3 are on the edge.

The Web 163 was designed for 1.3 rockers.

Ditto that.
I have used the 163 with 1,25īs along with a light valvetrain several times, and can spin 6600 with no valve float if I want to.
I also have made my own version of the 163 with 0,472" lift on intake valve (About equal to 1,25 ratio on a stock cam) and stock 0,422 on exhaust, due to the fact that most aftermarket heads actually flows too much on the exhaust for engines w peak power below 6000 rpm. Especially on sub 2 liter engines this cam works very very well. Significantly more power than the W110 mainstream cam and way more usable torque. A further plus is a valve train that is not noisy.
For medium grade fuel I see no problems running 9-1 CR. Especially not if you use 1,25 rockers as they WILL bleed off a little dynamic compression. On nippy engines I use 9,5-1 CR and high grade fuel (about equivallent to 93 octane) At that CR it really produces both power and torque.

I agree, did not say it is a bad cam and rocker combo but for a dd car sometime going a little on the conservative side is a good idea. Nice combo.
