Removed old panels. Cleaned with 409 and used brake clean on a rag to remove the old adhesive.
Applied rope caulk to doors. I bit thick, so I rolled it out between my hands to make it thinner. Cleaned an lubed door latches.
Installed 12 mil plastic purchased in a roll at the hardware store. Used a x-acto knife to trim plastic. Installed clip seals (condoms) not pictured. Note: next time I am in there I am going to install pieces of plastic on the inside of the openings to form flaps. So moisture will run off the plastic in the inside of the doors.
Note: replacement clip on the left and oe on right. I found it necessary to squeeze the barbs slightly on the replacements for installation.
I coated the backs of the panels with a acrylic spray or lacquer spray. To waterproof them. Lined up the clips and gently installed the door panels.

Nice job TCash. Just curious as to why you didn't install some sound deadener inside the doors? I know I want to do that with my 70'. The doors are so light, hollow and tinny... _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

I took out the material and it makes shutting the door so loud. _________________ Wash your hands

I did mine last month, and anytime someone comes over and compliments my bus to my housemate, she opens and shuts the doors and everyone comments on how quiet and GERMAN they sound.
I enjoy making these cars sound like they should.

Does anybody here know for certain if the factory installed the flaps on early bays without the flow through ventilation vents? I have never gotten a 100% certain answer. _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!

I have never seen them on early bays. But it's good measure to help direct the water to the holes in the door rather than between door panel and door. _________________ Special Thanks to:

The plastic moisture barrier had an extra flap on the outside which draped down into the bottom channel of the door. It kept the
inevitable leakage past the window seal from splashing onto the barrier and running down to accumulate between the barrier and door metal,
and likely eventually soaking into the door panel. _________________ '67 bug: seized by the authorities
