Ok I did a search and see the wiring for the older type with the three wire conector at the alt. My new alt has only B+ and D connections. What to do with the other wires in the 3 wire plug? And I need to disconnect and take out the old external regulator under the rear seat correct?

If you don't want to remove the old wiring or plugs:

Run a wire from the alternator D+ terminal to the red wire's terminal in the 3-wire round plug. Remove the old regulator under the seat. Done.

The red wire in the 3-wire round plug runs to the square plug on the regulator where it connects to the blue wire that runs to the dash light. This connection works even with the regulator unplugged.
