New to me anyway -- I had never heard of the technique described here:

Dissolving the steel bolt

Of course, it has to be a part you can submerse, but nonetheless an interesting process.

Yep this is really old school stuff...i'm really old Rolling Eyes in a old school proffession Rolling Eyes
but have been doing this for years, in machining you often break a drill bit in a deep hole ,if you can't submerge the part, you dam it with putty/clay, and fill the hole with alum solution and use a mini immersion heater to keep it hot...in reality it takes a couple of hours to rot it out.
...usually an overnight thing
The quick method is to carefully apply drops of concentrated nitric acid.

never thought about using acid. but you could take to a local machinist and he could edm, waterjet, or mill out the bolt or broken easyout.
