|
|
Was test driving my '71 Super after installing new electronic ignition distributer. Ran fine at first but suddenly lost power. Barely made it home. Saw that wire popped off #2 plug. No big deal, I thought and reattached. I decided to double check timing and as I revved up the engine the same plug wire popped off again. What could be causing this? _________________ 1963 Beetle

Try putting a little squeeze on the wire with your needle nose pliers. |

I recently had the same thing happen to my car. Took a friend on a ride and after shifting 3rd, I dropped a cylinder. I pulled over and found #4 wire laying there. I put it back on and everything was fine.
It came off as I shifted @ 6400rpm so I assume the air pressure pushing on the spark plug wire air seal forced the wire off.
I replaced the wire end with a new one and it fits much tighter. _________________ Glenn

We bus guys use these instead of the bosch wiring seals with pretty good success at sealing up the cooling system. I want to say they are $10. I put a set on my friend's FI super and they have stayed on so far.
