Nice work!
Was the roof that bad? Or was it easier to go with a bigger chunk?
Very cool picture pre surgery picture. |

Well..... My plans to get more done were dashed as many other project got dumped in my lap. Here's to this year on getting back at it. I want my poor car back.
On another note my city decided the other day that I need to move the car off the driveway as I am in violation of city ordinance by having a non operating vehicle out in the open. And this happened after it has been in and out of the same garage the whole time but I just a few months ago got new neighbors so most likely they reported it. Oh well I will get it sorted out and get back on it. _________________ 1973 Super Sat from 93-2008

WOW! In total agreement with Buggeee! That was a unique approach to welding the roof together. Most would opt to cut the two A pillars, midway in the windshield portion, then the B at the midpoint of the quarter window. But I do like your Tetris approach. Great work. That level of welding is where I hope to be in a few more decades.
Great job! I am a fan and will follow along!
Thank you for posting it up n here! _________________ Jimbo

Hi, impressive work,
have you noticed that you will need a slightly smalller rear window (15.7 instead of 17.3 inches) from now on? Besides, the holes of the chrome strip on the sides will not line up, because the donor had them in a lower position. So you might want to weld up the old ones in the donor part and drill new ones before painting. |

Well getting back on it again. Got the door frames braced up and getting ready to chop out the remnants of the old heater channels. Surprisingly only one pan bolt did not come out. all the others were quite rusted in but they still played nicely. Got replacement wheel wells for the rear on the way as There is rust in the lower area and I did a somewhat poor job trying to get them lined up on both bodies. I have a new rear apron to put on but got the cheaper one and will transfer the exhaust cutouts over so they remain the correct size and shape. Will get more pictures on the way as well. _________________ 1973 Super Sat from 93-2008

Was able to get a bit more done recently. Finished removing the drivers side heater channel. It is a bit of a process and I can tell the originals get assembled in pieces due to how it is welded in place. I am also surprised at how my quarter panels are totally intact considering how bad the rest was right below them. Currently just trial fitting them to see where the body or eater channel need massaging to get them to fit perfectly. The front wheel wells are going to be easy to fix up. The rear where I screwed up aligning and welding are getting totally replaced as there is rust creeping out from behind the body mount as well.
