I have an 1974 Acapulco Thing that came with a dealer installed gasoline heater. The thing is that the heater is not the the heater that should be in a Thing. The heater is a Type 3 Heater. Can anyone tell me why this inappropriate heater was installed in my 1974 Thing.

My guess is that the dealer might have had the T3 heater in stock back in 74, and since the last T3 was made in 73, they realised they weren't going to be able to sell it. So when the original owner wanted a gas heater in your car, they put the T3 heater in.
