|
|
I resumed work yesterday on the front brakes of my car, removed the rubber lines from the front brake cylinders, and compared them to what I purchased about a week ago from Archway Import Parts here in St. Louis, MO.
The rubber brake lines on the car are about 17 inches long, the lines I purchased are about 15 inches long.
I checked the 'sticky' for Type 1 to Thing brake interchange before I purchased the rubber brake lines, and assumed I purchased the correct lines.
From the 'sticky' . . .
Front brake hose (440mm) - Bug '65-'66 (211-611-701)
Confusing, text states for Bug, yet the VW part number is for a Karmann Ghia . . .
As an aside, I plan on keeping the stock brake drum setup on my car. |

When I replaced my rubber front brake hoses, I first bought bug hoses, which, I immediately discovered were too short to allow the wheel to fully turn. I read somewhere about using brake hoses for a bus which are longer. I added the bus hoses and have been happy since.
Someone else may chime in with the correct answer for you, but this has worked well for me. _________________ And then there were two...downsized to 83 Doka &

Use the ghia lines they are 17 inches. I use the braided steel lines and they are 21 inches |

The original part was 181 611 701 390 mm long. Like was just stated we also use the Ghia line or for better outcome we also use the non expanding braided stainless with teflon lining units. much better... |
