I have a really rough camper that was used as a parts bus for my x-double cab. Im going to repair the torsion housing and need some measurements, hoping someone could help me out. What is the measurement from the face of the frame to the outermost face of the torsion housing where the cap bolts on? And degrees from 0 of the casting to the frame.

It is really rough, several years ago we cut the torsion end-castings off to fix a hack done to the doublecab. I never imagined I would be fixing this thing. First I am an early snob, second the roof is caved in and rusted out. The lower 6" is gone as well. but the price was right (free)!

Thanks I had no idea if it was a driveway conversion, or if some little outfit bought used busse to convert. Wards sold lots of weird stuff I guess. My dad still has his Wards slicks on his Dart. |

Thanks for the measurement. That will get me started, I can pick the angle up from a picture I have. The bus has been in those woods for twenty years, it was parked for a long while before then too. My friend who is the one with the chainsaw in the pic, bought it when he was a teenager. He drove it around the yard till it locked up and they parked it. We always figured since it wasn't a westy not worth it, or any number of excuses. I seen him at Back to the 50s car show here in St. Paul last year when I had been out of vw's for a long time, he told me I had to get another one. I didn't think he meant this one. I was driving this at the time.

I don't think he meant 14 "mm" but rather 14"cm" ???
