Doing tune up on my stock 78 FI Westy and notice small horizontal movement in the distributor shaft. Looking for advise on who rebuilds these. Have been using a Petronix igniter for several years and am thinking the module is not as touchy with this slight movement as points would be.
I have a spare that’s tight, no horizontal movement so will swap out the module while I get the original rebuilt.
Who should I send to for rebuild? I tried searching and didn’t find anything.
Thanks,

Apologies for missing Bill on this list. Equally embarrassing as I’m a happy customer. Shinola, getting old is hell. It’s taking longer and longer to service the queue of women at my fantasy door. _________________ .ssS! |

Gary? Waiting for something nice from you Pal, especially since I have your parts on my bench. I'd hate for something bad to happen to them!
P.S., thank you everyone for the nice words! _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

WOW, really pleased with the quick response to my distributor question.
Have new plug wires on order and when they show up, will pull disy, contact Sparx Werks and get my original (I think) rebuilt.
Bus is in hibernation now till spring as winter is here in No WI.
Thanks again,

There are other distributor restorers. Glenn focuses on the cast iron mechanical advance, I work with the single vacuum advance only distributors and the Garbe Lahmeyer units. Bill does the SVDA's and DVDA's that we don't enjoy working with. I don't enjoy the SVDA's and DVDA's because they typically require more than one core to assemble a good replacement. There are a few others too. Hazetguy and Heimlich also restore distributors. The OP inquired specifically about a later EFI distributor. The above listing reflects how long we have been restoring distributors for Samba members with Glenn being the longest. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Bill always sends me a 12% finders fee for all the distributors I refer him. Others here send me candy or maybe a holiday card. I recommend Bill since I get hard cash. Now, if one of the others offers up a Thanksgiving turkey I could be swayed. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Fair enough, just didn't want a new reader to think that Bill's cheering section means he is the only cat's meow when it comes to distributors. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Yes, I’m one of his cheerleaders. Doesn’t mean I bad mouth anyone else though. I’ve bought from Glenn a few times but he sells a different product. I do have a personal relationship with Bill though so I’ll continue to promote him. If he was a douche I’d say so but the guy works hard to provide a good product quickly and with good communication throughout. Doesn’t mean others don’t as well but Bill has long, thin, legs and I like that. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

So far, getting old is better than the alternative.
Probably worst is getting back up when under a car.
I bought a lift, then realized the ceiling is only 10'-6" and I need 12'. Crazy as it seems, I think I'll raise my roof. 12 foot studs are pricy, right now.
So looking forward to using the lift. _________________ Al Brase
