I wanted a quick and simple cup holder, and really like the table mounted one that Freesurf posted. I like that it swings out of the way, and doesn't impede the path between the front seats. Here's the one that I came up with- My chairs have arms, so unlike his, I put the cupholders in a row, rather than side by side. The cherry laminate is scrap from a bathroom install, the cupholders are from West marine. The mount is some scrap angle iron welded to a 1 inch pipe nipple. Not too bad if I do say so myself, but If I did it again, I'd try for more storage ability.

Nice job, great execution! Do you have pics of how it attaches to the front table leg? Maybe the late year table legs have a different attachment system with the knob?

That's a nice looking mini table !

I was looking for ideas on cup inserts so that I can drill 2 into my big table at the back ( ensuring they don't interfere with the table swing movement when it is put away).

I'll check out West Marine, thanks for the tip.

Westfalia changed away from that table mounting system starting in 1985. '85 up is the flat swedge and large hand screw. The older table leg will probably fit in the newer leg bracket just the same.

BTW, brilliant work!

I hate kicking coffee cups out of my aftermarket center consoles as I climb to the back. This has inspired me to just mount the whole damn thing to the table swing arm! Very nice.

thanks!

yup, the table leg attachment is different in late Vanagons, your idea would work with slight modification on my van. Thanks for posting.
