This weekend I am probably heading to the VW show over in Ypsilanti Michigan on Sunday. If I make it out I will snap some pictures of the ACVW stuff around the city. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

I went to the Michigan Vintage Volkswagen show yesterday. Decent swap meet and ok car show. Surprisingly not many off road VWs. A couple Baja bugs, a rail, and some strange half flat bed truck half bug gizmo. I was hoping there would be more off road toys. oh well. Still worth the drive and I came out with a couple scores from the swap meet. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

I'm still stuck in Texas.... Until next Wednesday most likely. Plus side is I'm making some nice money. That's about the end of it. Welding in the sun on a 90 degree day with 50% humidity sucks. |

Hey Mike, I havent swapped the Zenith yet. Dealing with the second of two shitty heads on her now. The stupid stud pulled through the head. Proper torque and all. So im swapping the second old one back in.
Torqflite is working great. Hauled my tractor up to Fairview no problems at all.
Thanks again! _________________ 66 Baja

Yea Dirk,Bus isn't really for off road cuz of the deep sump, in hundreds of trail miles (only hit once on sand bar) thank my lucky stars it wasn't a 'sex stone'
Hey Buggutz, My Garage still needs a good cleaning _________________ 'Black Ice'Drag Buggy 'Turbo'

Ah-ha! So thats how you were able to drive around the trails without making a disaster out of your busses belly!
Next time I head up north I will have to check out the progress you made on your bus, or at the next local show. Whichever comes first. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

Funny I wrote that earlier...Cause I am thinking of heading up north for backpacking, visitting some friends, and moving the last car load of stuff down state. If any time, probably this coming weekend, so I may be passing by on Sunday. Not for certain yet, but definitely a possibility. Not a whole lot of big adventures to be had down here, and I probably will be tied down for the rest of the summer, so no better time than now. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

Hi Guys
New Guy here and Ive been watching this thread for awhile and wonder if you have any preferences on the trails north of Baldwin. Im spending a few days at Grand Haven with the wife, kids and grandchildren. Then my wife and I are heading to the Silver lake state park and hitting the dunes for a day or 2. Then up to Baldwin. Ive taken the Tin Cup last year and wonder about others around there. Any suggestions on trails, restaurants and ice cream joints.
Thanks
Ron |

There's Jone's ice cream in downtown Baldwin - that's a must.
As far as trails, I used to run them all when I was younger on dirtbikes but I never really thought about being on them in a car until I got my VW and now I'm rediscovering them and which are good. I can't really vouch for any particular one but I can steer you away from some. On the east side of M37 north of Baldwin it can get kinda sandy. There's one in particular across from a bar that I really don't care for. It is just too whoopy and sandy especially if you just had ice cream! But other than that, it is very easy to just tool around and turn down two tracks and see what you find. I was there about three times last summer and never got bored just wandering around.
Winchin' lives near there and he would be a great guide for ya but I don't thi9nk he has much time on his hands this summer. I'll keep an eye out to see if and when you might be going up that way and maybe we might be able to run into each other. _________________ Brian H.
