|
|
Has anyone found a source for those white box regulators that go on the Motorola alternators? I gave up a while back but I still have a nice polished alternator that had under 500 miles on it.
I woud lalso like a parts source for rebuild parts for any of our alternators.

Good luck with the regulator search! I found one used once.. it came apart in my hands. That one didn't seem to age well.
Antonio Trejo wrote that individual parts are not available. He said that the only available parts are the brush holder assy and new complete alternators!
Don't know if the Motorola uses the same internals but there's an AL-82 thread that I was working on where one of the guys posted links to generic rectifier diodes, brushes, and both bearings.

Thanks Dave. Now I wonder if after spending over $100 for a regulator that it could be a Diode as well. Do you know of any alternator parts sources for these? Or even what Model alternator that was called (model has been polished off)? It looks like an AL82 body except the brush/regulator area. _________________ -John Cox

There are a few motorola alternators in the classifieds-maybe you can grab one for parts. |

True, since the body of mine was fully polished and went back in the box under 500 miles. _________________ -John Cox

Hey yammaduci what are your symptoms?
If you're not overly concerned about stock appearance, you can run a bus vreg.. Those tend to be easier to find and much cheaper. _________________ Robert in Memphis

The light came on and it stopped charging so I took it off, took it apart and it looks like the regulator got pretty hot and probably died. Not sure on the diode but one of them might be gone as well. I threw it in the box and it's been there for a couple years. Rather than toss it when cleaning the garage I decided to see if I can revive it for my new 1957 Oval. _________________ -John Cox

With all the numbers in the ad for the one you found it should be easier to source one.... Usually problem is finding a part number to begin with....
$4.31 ????????????
http://www.irpauto.com/SPEC.PDF
Some other numbers found...
The regulator 8RC2007, also goes by the stock numbers:
MA-240
105-762
M5-762
VR-1212
14991

Neither one of them are designed for the White box Motorola. But thanks. I did find a couple leades; just not on other rebuild parts. _________________ -John Cox

The late bay bus alternator voltage regulator is a common direct replacement for the externally regulated type one alternators... obviously it's not the identical part.. they function the same. _________________ Robert in Memphis

I have one of these alt's. The diodes are bad. It was cheaper to replace the unit than have it rebuilt. They wanted almost $200 for the rebuild, I bought a new one for $75. |

You still have the wrong one. What Dale posted is what we are discussing and not what you have there. I did find a China maker who makes the ones I need but minimum order is 200 of them. If there was a high demand I woud do it but everyone has already moved on to the AL82 when they need a new one. Aparently _________________ -John Cox
