|
|
So, I picked up a very extensive spares kit for a late Bay on eBay. The guy had put it together for a big European trip, but now has sold his Westy. Some stuff I recognise; coil, distributor HT leads, fuel pump (sadly not type 4!), brake MC, all of which I'm very happy about. There are two little packs of rubber grommety washers, some of which look pretty distinctive, like these:
And these:
After some time unproductively searching the gallery, can anyone enlighten me as to what they are?
Also, the two separately packaged kits are here:
And here:
Note the far right ones are two different sizes, but the numbers of each might give a clue as to what they are.
I have such faith in the power of Samba that I expect every item to be identified by this time tomorrow
Seriously though, knowing what they are might help me know whether to take them with me on our road trip next week.
No prizes Sambanistas, just for fun! _________________ 1978 marino yellow Bay Dormobile camper

Well top are oil cooler seals, then push rod tube seals?
The little doughnuts look like the ones that go on the inside case rods. And the large ring looks like the rubber that goes in the flywheel. _________________ Wash your hands

You have a mixture of Type 1 and Type 4 parts. Some Type 1 pushrod tube seals, both some Type 1 and Type 4 oil cooler seals. A mixture of some injectors seals and some miscellaneous o-rings |

Are you sure you are a VW bus owner? Asking us to recognize those is somewhat like a carpenter asking what this object is

That's a screwdriver. Beat that threaded POS repeatedly and it will surely seat sooner or later. I use my Bentley to shim up bad table legs. |

We all held those parts for the first time once. You'll get there. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Have you ever hit a screw with a hammer? Oddly enough they actually screw in ! _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

Starting a screw with a hammer will cut the wood fibers so the board is less apt to split. Just plain makes it easier to get a screw to dig in as well. Of course in this day and age of driver-drills and thin deck high strength deck screws often with fiber rending tips, starting a screw with a hammer is seldom done any more. |
