I've already crossed back north.

Had a very slow 2 hour crawl in a fairly short line at the West Calexico border in the general lanes.
The problem was US border agents taking a long time and also some kind of final exit delays backing up everyone including the SENTRI Pass lanes.

Saw you camped near the punta. By the time I drove over to say hi you had pulled out headed for town and then I was right behind you in the gold Syncro with kayak on the roof. Then saw you again sitting at the taqueria as we drove through BOLA.

That night the Baja wind came and we left early.

Still had a great trip!

We'll be in Guerrero Negro tonight, then Mulegé for a week or two. I look forward to meeting you and comparing notes!

At Potrero. Crossing tomorrow, going to Guerrero Negro for two nights . . . no Vanagons to be seen.

How many people are confirmed, going 100% so far?
Maybe we can create a Whatsapp group for easier collaboration and coordination?
I am pushing very hard to be there for the crossing with the group on the 5th but have no contacts whatsoever of who is going

I can't hold the group for any one person so we will be crossing on 5 february.

Baja Bound is a good insurance company. All you need is liability coverage:
https://www.bajabound.com/?utm_campaign=1013072607...CoQAvD_BwE

We will be in Guerrero Negro for 2 days so you can catch up with us there. We will be crossing at tecate, taking the bypass around the north side of Ensenada, and Mex 5 to Guerrero Negro. It's a 5-6 hour drive. See you there!

Hi Guys, I was planning to go the first week of February when I saw your post. I am afraid though I may not be able to leave until Feb 7 or so.
Any chance we can start a few days later?
It will be my first time going to La Paz and would be super cool to drive with other people.

Also, what insurance do you recommend?

I just talked with MexicoPro and they said CAN'T insure the van since it is too old model...

Hi Sam,
I just received my Reversaru Conversion
for my Van so I haven't been able to start
the Transmission install until now.
This is going to put me 2 weeks behind schedule.
Hope to see you all in Mulege!

If I could come up with a travel partner so I'm not driving solo and make the dates work I'd love to join in. I have a van stored in Denver so it's more feasible now than shipping my Westy south from Alaska. Anyone know if Mexico allows right hand drive vehicles? My Van in Denver is a JDM Toyota Hiace.

All good things must come to an end, so Feb 2024 will be the last Annual Baja Rally ☹️. I have been to Baja California for fifteen years running and have pretty much "been there, done that".

Sorry missed this post.

There is a lot of great information in this thread and found it very useful on my visit. I wish the dates lined up better last year so I could have entered Mexico with a Vanagon caravan.

Thanks for putting the Rally together and introducing people to Baja.

If you can swing it, visit Rancho San Dionisio. The mountains are awesome. Look up the photos attached to the Google Reviews.

Before you cross into the Baja California Sur, go on a whale tour there in Guerro Negro. I camped in the Dunas de la Soledad the night before.

My favorite time in Baja was getting to Puerto Agua Verde. About 13 miles of washboard/sides of cliffs.

I will be taking a break from Baja this year. Baby on the way around new year.
