Hello All,

I just picked up an instant heater from a guy selling old stock from his out of business auto parts store. He said it was never mounted and just lived in a box all these years. For better or for worse, I own it now.

I did search on the interwebs. I found this manual but it doesn't seem to cover this model. http://vw.itgo.com

Not much info on here so I thought this could be a reference. I'll try and document my instillation the best I can. If anyone has installed one of theses please comment. Is there anything I should check first?

So this is everything I got. I think I'm missing some duct work and a coil. Let me know if there is something vital. I'm guessing ductwork can be fabricated and I have a couple spare coils.

After further investigation, this model is supposed for a square back. Still, I don't see why I can't make it work.

I saw that and was like...whaaat?

Manfreds78bay I have like six of these if you need correct parts to make this work. No need to fabricate if I have the goods. Ill pull the pile out to see what I have and if you are interested.

It seems as of late the Stewart Warner heaters have been popping up in mass - NOS in the box. Like two or three stashes have been found at once Shocked

That would be great I need to test run this thing. It's missing a coil, but I have a couple VW coil here. I don't think they are different because the directions state it uses a standard coil and points system. But I would like to know if you have the type 2 mounting bracket. I only have the brackets for a kia or squareback. Also if you have a type 2 specific control cable, I'll take that off your hands as well.

The guy I bought mine from had in on CL for months. I think I was the only person to every call about it.

It works! Didn't hook up the fuel lines. Followed the wiring diagram and she fired up. I put my fingers over the fuel pump and I could feel suction. The the remote switch doesn't work though. I'm going to pop it open and see if it can be rebuilt. Worse comes to worse I can just tape the thermostat and just turn it on and off when it gets too warm.

It is very quiet. Not sure if that's just because she's not producing heat or not. I'm thinking about putting the blower in the spare tire divot and putting the burner in the engine bay to keep the fuel lines out of the cab. For some reason that seams safer.

Next step hook up fuel lines. Make it hot baby.
