Beautiful. Do you have a pair of NOS bearing water covers for the wiper shafts?

This makes me so crazy thinking about putting adhesive behind that seal on to that beautiful paint, not sure how it came from the factory. Applause Applause Applause

It's a shame that nobody reproduces proper door seals.
This bus deserves better than what is available.

So that's why the handle of the church key is shaped in that way. Cool!

I think about polishing, but i want to have a god sight to front, so i ended up ordered a pair of new front windows, two layer glass.

not much to tell, sandblasted and painted/ cleaning some headlight parts
(except the numbers to keep the story)
and cleaned some of the best looking semaphores i have in stock, not 100% date correct but i can live with it.

also cleaned the original rear Window, still some parts of a Sticker on it, maybe i can find one like this again someday.

i now found some usable looking door seals (the right on the picture), they are Repro pop up roof Westfalia split screen camper seals, the are softer as the door seals i see, worth a try.

Also insert the front and rear Windows (front are repro Two layer security glass), with the pen trick i see here on thesamba, and some Hirschtalg, worked very good.

So back to sanding, the drop gates and Bumpers need some love, what a
laborious work...

Hi Christian greetings from Malta,

Apart from the cab door hinge screws Smile your bus/project is truly amazing the attention to detail is second to none. we are following your build to help with a friends 8/57 truck which is almost identical to yours, very helpful information you post thanks and keep up the great wok.

May I ask where did you get the "new" cab door seal from, the ones available are very stiff and we are having the same problem.

Regards,
Eric.

Some little steps forward meanwhile i sanded the Dropgates and Bumpers, so only one sanding picture in this post, sorry.

i do some electric work, added some wires for flashers and extra grounds and started to testing it.

With the help of a Thesamba member i was able to found a Year correct Splitbus Semaphore switch to change the beetle switch i used before.

All the seals i found for the Engine lid cover were to small, so i made one for the first time and installed the engine lid, modify my knipex tool with a M5 nut to bend the latches in the back of the cover.

Take her out in the snow for a little test drive, good feeling to drive it!

I'd like to know that too. Recently bought a set of screw terminal lights that need re-silvering.

They take:

two headlights:
Neuverspiegelung Reflektor/Resilvering
Reflector zwischen 150-199 mm 2 Stück 66,99 = 133,98

two Brake lights:
Neuverspiegelung Reflektor/Resilvering
Reflector zwischen 80-149 mm2 Stück 55,99 = 111,98

+shipping
with silver back it would be a little cheaper.
They were anywhere two weeks or so on the way.

i finished the second headlight.

put the old inspection "Pickerl" back on the Window.

Sorry for the odd rear light seals, i dont have better in the moment...

Added some screwterminals i build from old speedo sockets for a extra ground wire, looks like original i think.

That's not a bad price. I've seen >£200 quoted on other forums in the UK. Which company did you use?

Tidy ground wire adaptation too!

Amazingly, the tail light seals in my late 1955 single cab were near perfect also.
But really, they are almost completely sealed when installed. Barely exposed to atmosphere at all.
Very nice work on the ground lugs. You inspire me to fix my own lights.
Also, I love my Knipex Cobra pliers. I see yours! Only in the last 15 years have we found out about Knipex in the US. Almost the best single tool ever.
