I am digging through some of my old stuff to sell and I came across an engine I forgot I had.
It is an "AJ" case and says something along the lines of "Product of Mexico" on the left side of the case.
These any good? |

I have built on Mexico cases. The only way to know if it is serviceable is tear into it and mic it. _________________ 2276 IDA's 86C 11-1 DD !

Yes...I understand what I have to do for the specific engine. My question was more general about the Mexico and AJ engines in general.
Known for reliability? No issues with the cases? etc etc. |

Does your case have a hole for a fuel pump? An AJ prefix should be a fuel-injected case, which were made of AS21 instead of AS41 and supposedly more durable. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

I hate having an old brain.....
Its NOT an "AJ" motor....is an "AF" motor (AF524825) so I am assuming late 1977 vintage. "Low Octane" version?
Sorry for the confusion...but my questions still stand. |

Short answer, yes. They came with a full set of case savers in 8mm. The metal the case is made of is good quality that holds up well. I used one of these cases to build the engine in my drag car. |

Great...thanks for the response.
Now the age old question...sell it as part of my VW liquidation or hold onto it in case the affliction returns..... |

I just picked up the same motor. One of my case halves has 8m on the side. Is this the case savers you're talking about? Also, where do I find the motor number? It's not by the Gen stand. (has fuel pump studs and block-off plate) |
