I purchased a 74 thing that was converted to an off road vehicle. I want to make it all street legal so need to fix dash problem. It has a body lift so they tore out the old wiring harness and replaced it with a new one. My problem is the dash is now a bunch of toggle switches that turn one thing on at a time. The lights and turn signals are now a bunch of toggle switches on the dash and the stock switches are gone. Its very confusing what does what and would like to fix this somehow and looking for any suggestions on what to do. Is there some after market switches that can have all the lights on one switch and same for turn signal. Maybe some off road kit or something????? New to VW's so any help or suggestions would be appreciated !!!!! Thank you. |

Everything will depend on how "stock" you want to return to. I'd probably rip it all out and start at the beginning. A generic dune buggy (non-shortend) harness might be an alternative. Are your steering column switches still intact? _________________ Walküre Restoration Thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=737492 |

I don't care if its stock or not, just as long as it works and is better then a bunch of toggle switches. The steering column it there with the turn signal and ignition key but the big plug on the bottom is just male plug end, no female end and no wires. Guess I would need the female plug for that to work. There is a new wiring harness installed but lost of wires not hooked up. Who sells this generic dune buggy harness. Whats the (non-shortend)? Thanks for getting back to me. |

Bugpack part number 3510 about 150.00 dollars that is the harness that I used in my daily driver 20,000 miles ago everything electrical works I use the stock ign switch and the stock turn signals switch after market fuse panel comes with a wiring diagram |
