Is that from Ralph Spoilsport Motors? Don't we do it in the road!
I would guess that if that is me, I really need some counseling. |

Wow, that's amazing. They made a VW Bus look like a Ford van! I love those custom front door panels! They so cleverly match the headliner.
Perfect for that child molester out there. _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

Baw chanca baw baw! Pimp on Brother Love!
Phat wheels on that machine! I also like the vent on top (notice the cutout in the roof padding) and the roof top luggage rack. _________________ '78 Westy

That actually appears to be a Landmark Conversion Camper. I have searched without luck for information on them. I have one that looks like the one on Ebay, but it is white with blue stripes on the side. I have seen at least two others and they all have the same luggage rack, the same wheels, and the same padded crap on the ceiling and doors. The one I have is only a parts bus that suffered an engine fire. Has anybody ever heard of Landmark Conversions? Thank God they didn't get a lot of business or convert (or butcher) a lot of busses. |

I am disturbed by the negative vibe against that bus. It is a bus, no matter how modified it is. Don't forget that one reason VW did so well was by making mods to the bus to fit peoples needs. I bet your bus isn't the same as the next guys. Would you want it to be?
Whomever had this bus had one thing on their mind, best put by bajatacomo:

Here's what we do: Start a collection - parts, cash - for the "de-conversion" of it and we'll restore it to VW factory specs. That'll show 'em. _________________ Need British parts? 800-235-6954 ext 3199!! |

You know, for some sick, perverted reason, I kind of like it. I just dont know why. Granted I would never do anything like that to my bus. _________________ Jasan C.

What a clash of ideologies. It's psychotic, schizoid, scarey. It's like having "Mother" on your sawed -off.
On the other hand, it looks darn clean. Nice seats, no rust to speak of, still fuel injected, and the passenger behind the driver would have an interesting view. I'd do it up orange and white, "DRMSCLE"

the rear wheel arch looks rounder than it should be for a 79.
i've never heard of the Landmark Conversion Camper, but could this be part of the camper conversion as well? |

I don't recall the rear wheel arch being modified on the others I have seen. I know on the bus I have the arch has not been changed. A couple of other items I noticed on this bus are the map lights in the headliner and the chrome rear bumper which are Landmark items. The front bumper is missing, but I'm sure it was chrome also. The others I have seen also have a swing away tire carrier mounted on the back, but you can't tell from the photos if this one has the tire carrier. They are ugly, but in a cool shaggin disco kinda way.
Common items I recall on the models I have seen are:
*same wheels
*some sort of hideously ugly stripes
*chrome luggage carrier
*chrome bumpers
*padded headliner and door panels
*chrome map lights in headliner
*swing away tire carrier
*chrome ladder on back to access the luggage rack
*and shag carpet (no kidding)
I would like more info on them, but mainly out of morbid curiosity. I would certainly have a hard time driving one. Talk about a true fatchick! |
