The thing that is in slightly above the middle but below the sound sock thing looks the be a cleaner for your batteries terminals. Just put it on and spin it. If you turn the handle but not the actual bristle part it should come apart to show a wire brush for cleaning the clamps inside for the terminal.
The thing in the bottom left looks like an antenna but i am sure you knew that _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

I'm curious what the year actually is because some things don't match my '59 (#2 251 xxx--->approx. June-July59).
The horn button looks like maybe '58
The turn signals look like 64-on (no collar around lens). My '59 had these when I bought it because apparently they're easier to find.
Looks like you've for a great project there. |

The steering wheel is out of a '56-'57, the front turn signals are '58 type (thru 2103014) and the dash looks smooth so it is a '59. _________________ '58 Ghia 2387cc with a Berg / Folts 5 Speed

I think I see a set of clock hands between the turn signal base gaskets and the door strikers, and it looks like the tip of the minute hand is bent downward. Not sure if those are Ghia clock hands, but I doubt it - they look more like pieces from a house clock rather than automotive clock hands.

Those are not clock hands that is a pipe (tobacco) cleaning tool. |

I stand corrected.
However, if I had to guess I'd be willing to bet that it was a clock maker that developed that (tobacco ) pipe cleaning tool. |

I believe mine is build in January, so that would explane the partly '58/'59 parts (what exactly makes a 58 turn signal differant from a 59?)..
But I am waiting my birth certificate te verify this (waiting for almost 5 months already)..
Like I said, I am new to the Ghia's, so if anyone spot any other parts that are 'wrong' let me know..

The early signal base was welded into the bodywork. The next generation had a base that bolted on and a separate ring that held the lens on. The third generation did not have the ring to hold the lens. |

Finaly a significant update..
Due to a lack of funds I have decided to keep the chrome blackout, so this is my setup for (at least this) summer.
Added the dropped spindles in the front, with a smaller tyre size and redwalls..
I like it so far..!

I like it! Looks really cool. Stock rims and lowered are the best! Do you want to go any lower because where it sits now looks good. Also, did you lower the back any from stock?
EDIT: Also you should post the specs of your car here - You dont see many drop spindle only cars any more. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7658689#7658689 _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

Thanks! For now it sits good, in the future I do want to go lower, but that will not be in the near future .. No, the back is the same height as when I got it.
ok, I will check that topic out.. _________________ 2005 VW Lupo

Now, there's a 'droop snout'.
I think it needs some leveling out, but is otherwise alright. |

I guess I am the only one who likes the rake look of a ghia. When they are flat the back looks lower than the front. _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia

I'd probably appreciate 'the rake' if there were some deep dish wide 5 rims out back. |

Yeah, I was thinking about leveling it out, but I kinda like the look like this..
And besides I don't think the back is way up in the air, i've seen some cars that exaggerated way more than my Ghia ..
But I appreciate the feedback _________________ 2005 VW Lupo

In the picture the white plate with 4x holes in is a door post plate, lowlight only. |

It has been a while since I had a proper update, ofcourse I have been working on my car doing small stuff (mainly interior bits), but I finally have a proper update.
I swapped the interior for a new set:
Also I bought some new hubcaps which I found very cool:
I am very happy with the results, what do you guys think?
The next big updat will have to wait for the coming winter, first I want to cruise around in my new seats. _________________ 2005 VW Lupo

Another little update;
I started replacing all the black parts, so had a bunch of my parts rechromed . I really like the result.
A couple of questions maybe someone can help me with:
- Does anybody know the exact place for the logo's? The previous owner had them removed and I want to put them back on my car, but all the holes are filled out. So, the front logo and the rear script location.
- Also I purchased an original sidevieuw mirror, but the glass was trashed. Where can I get a new one? Or do I have to let one custom made?
- Another problem I have is with the doorlocks. These were also completely broken and were not safeble. Are those easy to get? Or are there other options to fill the hole without locks?
I hope someone knows the answers, so I can get further with my project and finally drive again.
Thanks! _________________ 2005 VW Lupo
