Question for the Syncro gurus

I'm curious if the wiring for the ECU that runs from the inside of the van and along the lower frame rail to the engine compartment can be fully accessed with the fuel tank installed.

I'm doing some custom wiring for my Megasquirt ECU, but would like to install my fuel tank.

Thanks!

Scott

yep, you can remove and install the harness without removing the fuel tank. there's a good bit of access behind the drivers rear wheel if you move the charcoal canister and ac drier (if you have ac) out of the way.

You can remove it, but you will likely have to loosen the vacuum canister so it can be moved around when you try to get the ECU boot through that spot.

It's kind of a pita.

Thread resurrection!
I can't post a picture at the moment, but maybe I can describe it well enough to help.
90 Diesel Syncro, I've pulled and replaced the tank. The fuel sender is plugged in, but I have an extra cable with no home. It's a two-wire cable, tan / brown with black stripe. The fuel sender is tan / purple with black stripe.
Does this stand out to anyone? Any ideas? I will be able to post a pic in 8 hours.
Thanks!

That sounds like it is for the decoupler switch, not used on most Syncros.

The wiring for 3 locker switches is there whether the Syncro came with any lockers or not.

The Syncro fuel tank sender wiring and connector is part of the separate locker harness, with 3 of those two pin connector for the 3 possible locker switches and the fourth one for the fuel tank, purple wire.

Cool Mark, thanks for the quick response.
Mine is a two-knobber, and the closest I could figure was it was intended for the gasser's fuel pump.

As promised, here is a photo:

you should be able to verify that it is the decoupler wiring by simply jumping it and the middle light on the locker panel should illuminate.

When I put the battery back in, I'll be sure to test that!

You might need to install a bulb for the decoupler position if you want that to light up.
I think it is the missing bulb in this photo, controlled by the brown/black wire from the decoupler switch connector.
