Hey guys, up for sale in NZ is this shifter only details are that it fits a beetle, i was wondering if anyone recognized the brend or make of this,

Its selling on auction for $85 NZ = about$55 US , i have allready bid on it what price should i go up to if it is a Gene Berg how much are they worth ? roughly $100 NZD or $65 USD? - The Start is reserve

Nope its not berg. Its just a simple empi (maby bug pack) rip off kinda look like berg shifter.


How do i know you ask? my brother has the exact same thing in his bug now was from his old on and that is the only other one i have ever seen in the 8 years he has had .

its a realy good shifter , we have had no problems , i reconmend it . its been through lots of shifting just on one car went through 40k of around city traffic

Bugzone i think thats somewhere around here but yeah

one car 40k
another 40k on the 68


and who knows how much when my cousin owned it

and still going strong

$55 us money is a good deal idont know if its worth $100 somtimes at vw shows you can get good bergs for $85

when you polish the handle it looks sweeeet

Hey guys looks just like the new bugpack drag shifter i just bought one from a guy couple of weeks ago.. if it is i think they sell new around 150 i think it is highest one bugpack has mines 12 inches long though..

Sweet as i will go for it, this is the first i have seen in NZ, what i am wondering is how do they work are they easier to use than stock and do they require any special fitting kits or gear, do you have to puch the button in every time you change gear b/c that would get kinda annoying.

The button is for reverse only. It will be stronger than stock, with quicker shifts. This appears to be a mass produced tiawaneese shifter. In the states you could buy it new for around $40.00.

If it is a bugpack like mine i was told the button is a reverse lockout it cant go in reverse unless you hold button thats what i was told for mine but havent installed it yet..good luck can the owner tell you if thats what button does for sure? Very Happy

yep you can only go in 1-4 and hit the button pull left then down your in R

it is alot ! stronger and nicer than a stock one and i think it comes with a plate or you use a stock lock out plate thats all you would need ill take a pic of my bros if i go over there tomorrow

$180 for the non-locking version, 40% reduced throw, 12" handle.

A bit more for the locking variety.
