Went out for a nice little drive yesterday, with some help from the forum I've about got things the way I want them. It is nice not have to worry so much about whether I'll make it home or not Very Happy

My last challenge was vapor lock on longer drives, I believe I have resolved this by fitting some rubber fuel line over the hard line in the area of the intake manifold to serve as insulation, a tip someone here provided recently. I'm also using the tennis ball trick; this is keeping the engine much cooler. I'm sure a vented deck lid would serve the purpose too but I prefer the deck lid original to the vehicle.

Thanks, and indeed she is a '69 Smile

She is not perfect or show quality by any means but I have been working hard to get her looking decent from about two and a half feet away, and more importantly getting everything working properly.

Wow, Shocked That's an outstanding beauty you have there. Must be a joy to drive. Makes me want to get the bits and pieces the compose my car together even sooner so I too can enjoy mine as you are yours.

You should be proud, very nice 69!

Great looking VW, congrats on both wanting to keep it original, and the matching kid !

My VWs didn't come with the matching kid option, had to make my own....

...that would be cool if the VW was still that nice when the kid is old enough to drive it...if he gets permission....
