Anyone have photos or ideas about putting some front tow hooks on the bumper? Ideally without decreasing the already dismal approach angle? My stock tow hook is all mangled and Im not sure i trust it anymore.

This is roughly what I'm imagining, for reference

The problem is using it as a recovery point and it pulling the bumper. RMW sells a bumper that accepts those attachments that they offer but they did something different for the attachment to the body.

Cutting off the front crumple bumper and going into the frame for attachments like frankensubysyncro did is always a option.

Are you literally planning hooks "on the bumper?". If so, you need to tell us what bumper you have. Surely not stock, so we'd have no clue on advise.

Added the stirrups myself, Mike doesn't want you paying for what you don't mean to use. That's their 'Pikes Peak' bumper with the brush guard.

    Best!

While I cannot tell you off hand which hole to use.... Take off your bumper.
You will find a series of holes....... It will become self evident quickly.
Two of these holes go through the front panel into the "radiator" area.

Long bolts..... I'm guessing 11"-12"" long????
    Big fender washers and Nuts.
Get quality hardware NOT Home Depot Crap..... Yes, there is crap hardware and quality hardware.
Drill through your chrome bumper in the proper place,
Mount whatever hooks you desire on the bumper face without fear of distorting it. (put a washer or two between the bumper and the body panel, there is a small air space between the two)

    EDIT:
Here is a Link with more details. My suggestion is to drill the bumper and mount your hooks on the outside of the bumper permanently.

So to clarify, I have a stock bumper. I was not thinking of literally attaching the hooks to the bumper, but rather to the frame somehow, and then have them protrude through a hole/slot cut in the bumpers sheet metal. It seems like the best course of action would be to get proper hardware to make a bolt attachment like djkeev used, and then bolt something like this up.

Cut a hole in the bumper sheet metal for the shackle piece. Not sure about how to properly mount it? as in would there be a way to get 4 (or 2) bolts to go through the bumper frame>?

No, I wouldn't use that hook set up, that is designed for a heavy steel bumper that you can fasten to.

You are using a 3/4" bolt through the bumper, you've got a lot of strength.

You need something with one main bolt or eye.....
What I would call an EYE NUT, a lifting Eye, would serve you well........ Again not crap but a high grade hook designed for heavy lifting........
