I have an earlier post on the parcel tray, but this one is on the order in which the tray pieces are assembled. I have the following parts:

1) Thin foam padding (I think 1/8 inch thick - I need to re-measure)
2) Vinyl material to match CV side cover panels
3) Cardboard

A few questions:

1) What is the order these are put together? Specifically, does the foam get glued to the metal parcel tray, then the cardboard on top of that then the vinyl?

I've just completed my own parcel tray with some advice from an automotive upholsterer. He said I should assemble the parcel tray as follows:

Tray (cardboard) first
Followed by foam padding lightly glued down on the cardboard
Vinyl comes last, folded and glued down over the edges but lightly glued down on to the foam

Installation in the car comes last.

So the cardboard gets glued to the metal parcel tray?

If the vinyl is folded over the edge of the metal and glued, then I wouldn't think that you would have to glue the cardboard to the metal.

Aren't there some slight shapes stamped into the metal parcel tray to strengthen it?
If I'm not mistaken, the cardboard is simply there to make a completely flat surface before padding.

This has probably been mentioned already, but vinyl in general will reflect on the back window - the lighter in color and the smoother the vinyl, the more it will reflect.
Carpet would be less likely to reflect, but seeing as the vinyl would look more like an extension of the top of the back seat (at least when it's in the up position) I can see why you might prefer that look to carpet.
