So I got home from using the bus all day, opened the engine compartment to check on things and this had pop open:

I'm embarrassed to say that all the years I've owned the bus I've never payed too much attention to the part. Shame, shame on me... Although I know that there was a fuse inside of it.

Also, what size fuse does it take?

The bus ran strong all day--no problems and as far as I know all electrical was working.

Thanks

He is correct. I had half a fuse holder and no reverse lights. I wondered the same thing. The power works off of your coil.

Take a look through the owners manual, you'd be amazed the things you can learn by reading them. Driving tips and etc. Even in new cars, there are always misc stuff that you never knew about.

I believe that is the fuse holder that's connected to the tranny for the reverse/back up light. But somebody might have bypass it. You can turn on your ignition (do not start, just put it on the ON position) and put your gear in reverse. Your reverse light should turn on. If not, then you found your problem. I'm not sure about the size but I think it's the same VW fuse we use (Red or white). I will guess it the white (10 A????)

I have the OG manual. Never thought to look in there. No excuses...just being a lame bus owner today.

Thanks everyone for the help. I appreciate all the responses.
