H4 130w (high beam) = 3400 lumens. H3 100W (inner, driving) = 1750 lumens. 2-each in my van. I think for now I'll stick with these. Wink

Amazon doesn't have the 8630s. Did you have the 100w H4's with relay before? How do they compare?

Love them. I have been looking at the truck lights. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet. These have much less draw on power than the H4s I have now.

Nice van! Wink

JW Speaker makes a DOT compliant version and a ECE compliant version of the 8700 Evolution 2 headlights. Everything I have read on various lighting forums (yeah, I am a self-admitted headlight nerd) indicates that the quality of these lights completely blow the latest TruckLite designs out of the water.

I installed a set of the GE Nighthawk LED headlights (rebranded TruckLite's) in my '85 Westfalia and was not impressed enough to keep them. They offered plenty of lumen output, but there were some strange lighting artifacts that were so distracting that I really felt that they were not quite ready for prime-time http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5...;start=40.

Assuming the price comes down on the JW Speaker 7" rounds (which is debatable considering how few they must be selling at the current pricing) , I will definitely be installing a pair in my van.

The 8630's are available in high/low beam and high beam only. They are DOT approved but I don't know about CARB. I thought CARB is more an environmental approval. All my other cars have HID lights and the JD speaker combination I am using is brighter than my BMW x5 or my wifes mercedes HID lights because I use 4 low and 4 high beam lights together.

The JD speaker V2 have 4 diffuser (2 in V1) taking care of the first generation LED headlight flaws. I am very impressed with the low beam light output.
All new high end card are available with LED headlights and in 5 years this will be standard on all cars like HID today. I l like the dark look of the headlights ad daylight and the very cool look at night. I will try posting a picture tonight.

The outer ones are direct fit in the Vanagon bracket.
The inner ones need the JW speaker install bracket sold here :

Wow, they seriously fit in the vanagon outer bracket with no mods whatsoever? That's great! With the jw bracket for the inners, does it mount on to the SA bracket or did you have to make something up?

It mounts on the SA bracket but you have to increase the inner hole. I check if I have pictures...

Dammit!!! EU requires all halogen or LED lights to be CE-signed and auto adjustable. This is one of the best updates I've seen - and I can't do it... Sad
