I am bumbling my way through restoring a 1967 Ghia. It has a name plaque on the front of the glove box that says "This car made especially for" and the original owners name. I am curious, any information on this?

Is the wiper switch labeled as "Drizzleflippen"? |

Thank you that solves the mystery of the stickers. I am still not finding any information about the name plaque. Pictures to come soon. The name listed is the original owner. She sold the car when she turned 100. |

Haha, those "German" names for the switches were contrived, to make a humorous jab at the typically long, complicated German names. Like what the British comedian Benny Hill would devise for his TV show when he'd speak in a German accent. The labels were a reasonably popular accessory in the 1960's. C21darrel- good work finding some photos of them! Here's a set, in the lower right corner from the 1969 JC Whitney catalog (scanned by Glutamodo)- https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=1063652 |

I love the "Das schmokegedunka" . Must be for the 'Kindly pull over, for your engine has been terminated' oil light. |

Now that the sticker mystery is solved, does anyone have any info on the name plaque? I am really curious about the history. |

Widely available back in the day by mail-order (JC Whitney, etc) or at your FLAPS. Not anything really special I'm afraid... _________________ '63 Ragtop (current)

I had a Ghia about five years ago with a name plaque. It looked to be made up by a PO. Yours looks to be the same.
I threw it away. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |
