|
|
I just picked up a 67 convertible from Georgia to replace my 65 and 66 convertibles that I have been working on. It has been completely restored and the guy who done it did a pretty good job. He painted it himself and I would say it is a 7 out of 10. He pulled the pan and painted it inside and out. The engine has been rebuilt and runs like a champ. The top is in very good shape with all new seals. He also included a lot of extra parts. I pan on adding a NOS narrowed beam, my front Bad brake kit with Wilwood 4 piston calipers and rear disc brakes, 17” wheels, autometer gauges and my 2276 that I have.

I have a 64 vert. Although I appreciate your taste, I tend to lean more toward the classic; Stock Bucket Headlights and a Nardi Steering Wheel.
It's a classic, I keep the custom stuff for the 68 and up Bugs.

I love the classic look but really like a German look car. Plans are to add my big brake kit and 2276 but keep everything so if I want to go back to the classic look it should be pretty easy.
BTW I really like that steering wheel u have. |

Couple updated pictures of my 67 vert.
I pan on changing the steering wheel to one that is a little bit sportier
These are the new wheels I am going to put on the car. 17x8 and 18x9 |

I really like your car, but your steering wheel, and your new wheels don’t match the style of rest of the car.
Also I have no idea how you are going to an 8” wheel under the fenders.
It’s your car so you do what you want, but these match the style of your car better.
Wood Steering wheel
Mooneyes SpeedMaster wheels which are available in 17”

I have always really liked the German look and that's what my final goal is but I'm doing it in stages so I can continue to drive it. I know I know keep it original. Don't get me wrong I love the original look but just don't want one myself right now. Everything that I am doing is bolt on and the car can be put back.
I will be running CCC widened fenders all the way around that is how I will fit the wider wheels. If I end up not liking the look then I may go restore mod. |

your probably going to catch alot of flack for what many will see as you ruining that car. But that being said its your car and do what you want. If you want a german looker sell that thing and actually buy a curved window super. |

+1000 German Lookers are almost always built on curved window Super Beetles.
'67 is a classic year and will hold much more value than a Super Beetle ever will.
Curved window Super Beetles are cheap and plentiful. You would be better off selling the '67 and picking up a Super Beetle and making it the way you want it. Even the Super Beetle convertibles are a lot cheaper than a '67 vert. It will look like a proper German Look Beetle and your pocket book will be better off in the long run. _________________ Chris

I have started back on my 67 vert and am making some pretty good progress. First time it has been out of the garage in 2 years. Still a long way to go.

I like it, it's completely different from all the normal stuff you see and it's all reversible. It would be cool if you could find wider 67 style fenders. I would advise for you to keep all the original stuff as a lot of it is one year only and getting harder to find. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

Everything that has been done is easily reversible and I have kept all of the original parts so if one day I want to go back to original I can with much work. |
