The "banana" is the small piece of wood that covers the space on the rear most section of the wood roof. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Make sure the grain of the wood does not run left to right. Mark center on the bus and center on the banana. Align and start screwing from the center towards the outside edges. You may find it useful to take a hot damp towel and moisten the back side of the corners. You might consider using slightly longer than stock screws on the corners and not tightening them down all at once. Once they are full tightened you can swap them out for the correct length. If you push those edges too fast you run the risk of breaking the tips off. |

Started the 1776cc for the Flipseat. I stole the engine out of my Double cab but it needs to go back in so I can get it up in the classifieds. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Just read the whole thread. This bus is awesome and the restoration/preservation is inspiring.
Your paint blends are amazing. Can you give me a little detail about how you make it look so good? |

I used pre mixed two stage paint from cans. I would add multiple coats to the new metal and lightly fog around those areas with both the base and the clear.
afterwards I would hit it with 2000 wet paper and then polish and wax it. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.
