Hey all...you gotta love the internet!! I thought I would email VW corporate history department about my 2 beetles and here is what was sent back...
After careful research of all our available records, we fortunately
could locate the following information.

Outside color
Ex works: white

Production date: 02.08.1960

Delivery date: 03.08.1960

Delivery to: Germany

VIN: 115 058 599

Modell: VW 1200 Export
34 PS, manual gear box

Outside color
Ex works: 21-21-95 (Please, see attached photo!)

Production date: 25.08.1964

Delivery date: 28.08.1964

Delivery to: USA

Kind regards,
Corporate History Department
Volkswagen Group Communications

My question is...what does 113 Limousine Export mean? I couldn't search since the search option on here seems disabled.

I haven't updated lately on the progress of my 1961 build. I gave her a nice coat of paint this weekend. I will post some pics once I pull them off the camera.

In German, the term Limousine is used for sedans, and "Stretch-Limousine" for limousines.

It is amazing. Just think...20 years ago, we would have to spend months trying to get in touch with someone about some kind of history. NOW...it is literally just a click away.

they were quick to respond in about 24 hours. I had indications that the 61 was not shipped to the US to begin with, but now I know. If cars could talk huh...
