Huh-
And here I was worried that my mileage has been on the low side. I've been averaging around 18, best tank was 22 MPG , worst was 16 MPG. Odometer has been GPS verified. I've been trying to drive fairly conservatively, not going over 70, but it can be hard to not enjoy the zippiness- especially hitting the pedal in third. Fun!

never below 20mpg unless there's a problem.
usually in the ~23mpg area.
my trans is stock air cooled so taller R&P with 205/65/15 tires.

but the more grins per mile directly equates to less Miles per gallon.

I rarely roll under 70mph on the highway..

FWIW...

Auto, 3.27 R&P, 215/65/15 tires.

16 mpg avg...(mostly around a hilly town and some highway).

I usually cruise at 70-75 on the highway.

Also FWIW,

Auto, 3.27 R&P, 205/65/15

First fillup: 22mpg
-all highway Sacramento to Santa Cruz, light load, mostly with cruise pegged at 66mph

Second fillup: 18.5mpg
-around town, over mtn hwy 17 twice, mostly light foot but some "showing off" to interested friends

Addendum: Just for comparison, I never got better than 18.5mpg on a long trip with the WBX, and considerably less than that around town.

Thanks. I'm interested to hear anyone's perspective about their experiences with the 3.27 and 1.8t or TDI engines. This seems like the ideal auto combo for either of those engines.

Following up on the mileage question above, and again mine is an Auto, not the manual:

Over my first 2230 miles, I've averaged 18.8mpg. That's mostly highway miles (e.g. 1300 miles round trip Santa Cruz to Salt Lake City). With the WBX, I was getting about 18.0 for pure highway, and considerably less around town. So, not a huge gain, but I think most of the mpg advantage of the conversion gets chewed up by going faster. With the WBX, 60-65 was typical. Now it's definitely 65-70, and often faster.

Best tank was well over 22, and the lowest so far was 15.9 (around town).

2300 miles since you got your van back from SAH is impressive! I'm still planning to take you up on you offer to come check it out! Sounds like the conversion is treating you well, how did your van do in the mountains?
