Look closely at the contour of the rear side window and match it to the pic. The car in the pic is far enough away that you can't see the little grilles in the C pillar. It's possible that the tail light/ rear tag area on the car in the pic is blacked out.[/i]

I was thinking Saab Sonnet too. Still do. Looks like the gas cap behind the window on the right rear. Same as a Sonnet.

From the German Federal Archive:
"West Berliners entering East Berlin at the border crossing Chausseestraße on 28 December 1963 after having been banned from visiting the eastern sector for more than two years."
That's a really early Notch!

It was sent by a friend who I think got it off the German state archive site. The file name said Potsdam so I gues its the main border crossing in Berlin. We are trying to figure out the year of the fastback...my guess was 69 since the gas flap has no finger pull externally.

in reference to my own post above, these have gas flaps, side markers, and wrap arounds too. and this one a sunroof
and same license plate style and numbering convention
