Yup, Henderson. Let's hope the new mayor doesn't send the by-law officers out to see how may cars are in our yards Wink
I would love to have seen the face of your friend when you told him what the Barndoor might be worth! He'll be doing the happy dance for a while I'm sure.
...Looking forward to more pictures!

I’d also like to see this as well, and the metal VOLKSWAGEN CANADA id tag within the engine compartment.

Ok all hopefully those pics should do. the engine obviously is not installed, 2 motors as well as a lot of parts are in the rear of the bus I don't know if they are for this one or not. the numbers stamped on the motors are 1720605 and 2127786. if either of these are wrong it may be sitting in the other van. I think the pictures portray the van fairly accurately but one thing I forgot to take a picture of is the right side semaphore is a little beat up looking.
If you wish to make an offer on the van PM me and I will pass it along to the owner and let him decide.

Popcorn is anyone else hoping to see a kombisutra style drive out? (ignoring the fact that it's been moved now)

are you having fun lbone? I bet you weren't expecting this when your friend asked you to flog off the old "vans" for him. Laughing

I think you need additional information about them island lads and their addiction to early vans and buses.
It is no secret, that obviously even the crappiest buses, especially Barndoors, they end up there. Those guys won't miss a chance to pick'em up wherever they might find them Laughing
I am talking from experience Laughing Laughing
So rest assured that most all of them mean what they say Exclamation

another aspect you guys are missing is the british guys who move to where the kombi's are... a good percentage of the barndoor owners in Australia are british ex-pats. Laughing

Any better pics of the seats and floors, is that folded up mat on top of rear seat a cargo floor mat ? If so does it have a 29 Part # ? The front floor mat as well ??

Is there a rear kick panel under back seat? It would be black in color if so

Are those 16" rims on the bus, one for sure is not , but they kinda look like it to me, also on tire tray ,if so any date stamps ?

Is there a rear Apron inside the bus ? I am guessing no middle seat ?

Both of those engines are later engines.

If you see an engine where the serial begins with -20- then this is a 55 or earlier Bus engine.

Ok thanks Everett I will see if the other van has the correct motor in it .
as far as the cargo mat I wouldn't know what it is to be honest with you, it looks trashed in the photo. what is the rear apron? and no middle seat.

Cargo mat is the black crumpled up thing in this photo

They have a part # on the edge. Mark was asking if the part # begins with "29A" as this means it is the original cargo floor mat.

The rear apron is the piece missing here, it travels from side to side to cover the rear of the engine:

What is the full VIN #?
It looks like 20-11366? in the engine area photo above.

Great find, and a great story! Cool

Any UK guys can arrange shipping and collection if they are serious, all you have to do is have someone there to hand over some docs Wink
