What a wonderful trip you all had. Dang that just makes me want to obtain another bay window. The photos are wonderful as well and show just a part of the adventure you all participated in. I am envious.

Funny...After the trip I was thinking of how I want another split window.

Donnie and I left on Thursday the 30th. We drove from OKC to Raton, NM. We camped in the Sugarite Canyon State park. The moon was bright and the weather was perfect. Here is a video of the drive up from our campsite to the larger lake up in the park.

Friday night we met up with Greg (BusBoyJake) and Big Greg (Mr Gas) and Bubba and a few others. It had been a long day and we were trying to find the pin drop that had been texted to us hours earlier. I had video of us coming up the pass out of Poncha Springs and searching aimlessly for the campsite, but it needs editing becuase it's too long to watch. Anyways....here is our initial entrance into camp.

What a great trip ! Super fun roads to blast (in the rain) ! I gotta hand it to Richie and Manfred for putting this trip on. Ive always wanted to do a trip like this but for some reason I think its too much for me to plan. Anyway, it was great. Good people, buses, kids, roads !

As you can see I broke my rear frame rail on the drivers side. Manfred and Norm hooked me with a quick fix with some wire I harvested from a local cattle fence (great idea Manfred!). I was able to limp over to Norms place where we ripped into the beasts ass.
We were there for almost 3 days cutting, grinding, welding, wrenching. I was super lucky to be with some kind folks who had the know how to fix my bus.
I posted up in the barn/work zone and proceeded to pull the motor while Norm and Manfred figured out the replacement pieces and plan.
These guys work very well together. And they certainly know what theyre doing ! I was unsure of the procedure but as things came together, it was obvious how bomb proof the fix was going to be.
Manfred just happened to have two rear frame rails (one for each side) from a bay window bus sitting in his stash.
They were able to cut out the old pieces and fab some new tubing to connect the new rails ! So rad !
Meanwhile, Norms girl (Tanya, who was super kind to me moving right into her life and living there with my giant dog for a few days) would make us bfast lunch and dinner. Delicious ! Thank you ! So generous.
They also took me to an awesome hot spring near by one night. Super refreshing after wrenching for 12hrs or more.
Norm is an animal ! He worked on my rig continuously for several days until I was "good to go"!
I was blessed to be with these great people and have them take care of me and get me back on the road. You guys are the best !
I highly recommend these pros for any and all Vdub work.
Photos to follow

Much love to my new friends from Penrose Colorado !!!!!!!!
You guys are the BEST
Thank you and see you soon !

Lets do this again.................

Thanks for posting the pics everyone. The Bubba fix was epic, luckily we had most parts on hand and plenty of experience with frame repair. The IRS conversion is now correct with proper support. It was an honor to fix such a famous Bus. The MtnBus will continue with rockin' adventures for many years to come. This Muster was an amazing gathering of cool folks, dogs, kids, bus's,scenery. Thanks to all!!

Sorry we missed Cottonwood Pass. We launched from the Muster into a week-long trip and headed up from Taylor Park to Crested Butte, as far north as Paonia, and back thru new territory (to us) to South Fork...

Or Chris needs to haul it to your place like he's talked about for the last 2+years. Rolling Eyes Hope it's not that long before we see you again.

It sure does go quick! While we are camping in the bus more now that we have fewer fuzzy family members, the adventures and their companionship will always be missed.
These two are past their travelin' age and couldn't make the Muster:

Our forests as we remember them are going quick, too.
Let's get out there and enjoy them while we can!
Looking forward to checking out that repair on mtnbus in person... talk about adventures!

Since Bailey is vending we get to show up on Wednesday, I'm hoping to get a spot big enough for our side tent. Last year I didn't show up with the bus till Friday night and there was barely room to park it. Some kind folks squeezed their cars together which allowed us a bit more room. But it's a festival and that's part of the charm.

See you there!

What a great dog pic! Past travelin' age but not past lounging in the bus age. My old buddy loved to hop in for short trips and give the 'hood a good sniff. I put the 79 slider window in my bay so he could really stick his head out (along with custom shelf to sit on). My poor hacked bay has morphed to meet many needs. I think I will be doing the engine soon (line bore going). I will make it to Bus's at the brewery for sure, but my Bus may be outta commission for awhile Crying or Very sad
