Maybe see if a retailer like GoWesty, JustKampers, or BusDepot would help out with their buying power? I think people who are actually interested in these wouldn't mind a slightly higher price. _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!

That is a great idea of contacting a retailer. I was concerned with the $12 price point being high. If I could get them to run a smaller batch would bus owners be willing to pay $20-$25 / tag? I will contact them on Monday to see what they would have to have to run less than their minimum. _________________ Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.

I wasn't so much implying a smaller order, but if a large retailer bought a batch right now for the first prices you posted, we would probably pay a little more as buyers, but they could be made sooner due to the investment of the retailer. I do think a slightly higher price would be tolerated, just because the people who are wanting these aren't completely strapped for cash. Just my two cents. _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!

I got a proof set back today and they are garbage! Color is bad and poor job drilling the holes. Very disappointed.
I have gone to another manufacture to see there work. They are almost twice as much the cost but, if the quality is top notch I think it will be worth it. I'll keep you updated. _________________ Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.

I'd be interesting in a set as well.
Now, the newb bus owner question- How do you know what numbers go on the tag? Is it the serial number of the bus or a number from Westfalia? My Westfalia is missing both these tags and I've never seen them up close. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Hey guys, I just saw this.
I bought those tags on Ebay for about $6 back in 2004. The seller said they were the last of about 10 sets he had made.
They were really good quality, although the holes were a little off from the originals. I just used a stamp set and a hammer for the numbers - which I just copied from the originals.
This picture may be a little easier to see whats going on...(click for larger image)

I have you guys covered. If you want a set add your name to the list. I got the proof art work back today. They look pretty good. See for yourself. I am having a couple of spelling errors corrected like "Manufacturer" on the Westfalia tag and getting things lined up tighter as the originals. Once they get these changes made I'll have them printed. They are coming out of the UK so I still am waiting on a shipping quote. I'll keep you posted.

So here is the ones on my California SF import Westfalia bus. Stickers not badges.
Why were the numbers cut out of the Westfalia one? Maybe Westfalia put theirs on and the Cali one overlapped in "power" so when Cali put theirs on they voided the Westy one?

I have the same sticker on my 78 Calif Westfalia as Notchboy. I would be VERY interested in reproduction stickers.
I have a set of the plates that I bought on the Samba or Ebay years ago. The number spaces are different from the later bus, so can't repro my 78.
Notchboy, the numbers were not cut out. It was a thinner silver portion of the sticker and the numbers were a series of small holes/dots. Mine is almost as faded and degraded as yours. _________________ 1978 Sage Green P22 Westfalia

Wish I had known about this. I could have made them acid etched just like original. _________________ I make HWE style roof racks, Jim-Dandy racks, SO-33 metal parts, Dormobile racks, HWE style ladders, engine crank start handles, Westy rack tags, Binz tags, Sundial badges, State of California tags, steering lock electrical covers and single / double cab gate latch friction blocks.

So, I got my set of these in. Great job Force3g! They look great.
Now, my question. My Westfalia is missing both these tags. Can I assume I can copy the stamped numbers on the California tag? What serial number do you use on the Westfalia tag?
Thanks for any help. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

love the look of the new tags! makes the bus look showroom fresh!
unfortunately my '79 was delivered in Colorado. Similar tag but it also has the dealer's name on it (mine was Tynan's).
Any Colorado owners out there with a Department of Housing tag on the RT dogleg? |

Hi all,
I'm interested as well. I would like to have a duplicate of both (see pics below) as I'm painting the van and I remove the stickers.
Thanks and Regards,
Alberto

If someone did the artwork on the later sticker - badge, I can have stickers made off that. But the top one on later bays is an aluminum sticky badge with pressed numbers and if I make it will be a sticker. And that bottom one is a sticker so it would be blank - no numbers. _________________
