Hello guys,
I bought a chrome kit for my 73 Squareback but they come without the rocker molding clips. Now that they will be in stock and as they come in a set of 10 (http://www.paruzzi.com/images/mega30398.jpg?refresh=1329723317), I need to know how many sets will I need. In other words, how many holes are there on each side of the stock rocker of a 73 Squareback to add clips to?
Cheers,
Bassam

ISP West sells them too, but they're the steel version, that'll need some paint on them to keep them from rusting. And yes, you need 14 of them (7 per side).

An easy way to remove them without damage is to -

1. While gently squeezing the clip with a pair of pliers, drill a small hole part way through the pin. (The pliers keep the pin from spinning.)

2. While gently squeezing the clip, screw a small screw part way into the hole you drilled.

3. Pull on the screw head (I used a claw hammer) and the pin will come start to come out. When the pin is about half way out, the clip will come off the car.

Remove your screw and move on to the next one. It takes longer to read than do. The pins can be reused.

The metal clips will work. In fact on my 71 Notch I used the metal clips on it, but I ended having to remove them and put some paint on them because they were rusting. And having rust stains on fresh paint is a no no for me.

The metal clips don't work, these plastic clips are the ones you need for a secure fit of your rocker trim.

Hi Guys, I have a 67 Squareback that I bought the lower rocker mouldings and the galvanized clips. While I was trying to install these clips the back piece that is supposed to go into the hole would break off with absolutely no effort at all, will these plastic ones work? really new to the VW family and I find that the 67 seems to be a one year only on many parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The plastic clips are for the narrow lower trim. I only mention it, as early type 3s used the wide lower trim.

The plastic ones should be fairly easy to find for a 67 - it was the first year that used them:

311 853 587 B
Plastic clip - Molding, outer
from Ch. No. 317 000 001

The earlier trim also has a plastic version - not as cheap or easy to find but they're out there:
