I'm trying to figure out a dry-sump....

Does anybody out there have a picture of an Autostick tank?
Never seen one of those rare birds, and would love to see how VW did this...

Please and Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for digging those up.

I'm looking for a pic of the reservoir tank that goes up under a fender.

Supposedly.... I have never seen one.

Wow! Thanks for that.

TWO of them... Shocked

Anybody care to explain what/how they do?

Think one (both?) might be useful for a dry-sump setup?

The right side tank is for ATF. If I remember correctly, left tank is for vacuum.

This is correct. Left side is vacuum tank, it has a 12mm vacuum hose that goes to the control valve for the clutch diaphragm.

Right side is ATF tank, and has a metal pipe connecting it to the oil/ATF hybrid pump.

Sorry I'm not at home to post pics, but vamram's pics show them pretty well.

Yep - right one holds the ATF for the torque converter. Left one holds vacuum to operate the clutch. You can see the vacuum servo next to the gearbox in the earlier set of pics.

Why do you want to dry-sump a big engine? The idea of using an ATF bottle is interesting, but why do it at all?

That is correct!

If you need the factory hose size/lengths/diameter I can pull those up with my ETKA program.
