Didn't your mom teach you to wash your hands before you eat?

Looks like fun!

Got it out of LA! Did a timing belt and a large number of other small things to Micah’s van.

On Corkey did some minor engine things....fixed the accelerator linkage which has never worked smooth, now it works great. Fixed a few vacuum leaks and actually screwed the coil in place so it’s not wiggling around. Here’s some engine pics:

This part of the evap van wasn’t hooked up, now it is. Happy California ? Razz

Left my aunt and uncles place in Tustin area, waving goodbye is Rachel, who came with us, and Allie, my cousin.

Got some plastic scraps for arts and crafts here in Tustin area:

Hit the road and stopped by San Onofre beach for a few minutes:

After those small tweaks on my bus and few stops for supplies and the beach, rolled south to Aeromech (Gary’s) and did a few more little things, all stuff that would have taken hours in stores finding bits and craft materials and clips and such took just 2-3 hours at Gary’s Garage! Big thanks Gary!

There’s 4 VWs in that pics...Wink

Then we rolled up to the top of the mountain and camped in a rainy wet and windy cloud...Camp Cibbet’s if I remember right!

Got a sweet run in to the top of the mountain about 2-3 more miles up the hill on a logging road and then proceeded to do a valve adjustment on Corkey. Bad idea. That #2 exhaust is wobbly and just waiting to go. Plenty of blow ya and hunk in there. Oh well!

Tore into the 84, Helga, and found the trailer lights were causing a cross power situation combining power to blinks brakes and running lights. Hit any one and all three light up. Pull the funky wiring and tossed it and the lights work perfect now!
Rachel made some killer breakfast quesadillas

and while we were eating saw some wild turkeys!!

And the campground

Headed on down the hill to El Centro and fueled up. Ran out 2 miles before the gas station and as I was coasting off the freeway to the on ramp, got directly flown over by the blue angles!

El Centro I got Micah a CB setup, and hid my money and important cards in my van deep where no one can find them...Then we headed towards a free camp just north of the border called superstition mountain OHV area.

Well that’s the whole reason I’m here...to get a bunch of to do list stuff done on Micah’s van. Wink mine won’t die so I’m not gonna even mess with it. Why? We made it! Pics to come. Relatively uneventful trip but I won’t spoil any surprises!
