You probably didn't wear your Samba name tag.😉
Seriously, I spoke to over 100 people yesterday and probably saw your van. I saw a couple of white ones with 1.8T's but the Stephan Autohaus gang was there with a bunch of converted vans. I want sure which was whose because therr usually wasn't anyone around the vans when I was taking pics. And with several hundred beach goers dropping in to see why all these VW vans were there, I'm surprised I even remember my name at the end of the day. Knowing your real name would have helped. Very few went around saying I'm so and so from the Samba.
Anyway, the white van with the ladder from South Africa belonged to Josh Preston out of Redwood City. He's got his own shop there. He was the first to receive the ladder and did an admirable job installing it. I saw several people yanking hard on that poor thing, including yours truly. Exaggerating but it sure felt like you could tow the van with it. It's not technically my ladder. It's made by an outfit called Desert Fox (no, they are not online yet). I just arrange the group purchases to bring these goodies from South Africa. _________________ BenT |

I am pretty sure that guy is a urban myth. I have known about him for years and we live in bay area, been at the same events a few times and even sold him something but never met him.

^^ wanted to thank him for buying shirts n crap from me... I just sat near my van and wondered, hung out with Stephan and the gang. My prob is I am kind of shy in making first intro's (after that I won't shut up ) _________________ Don't harsh my mellow...

Then you guys missed out. The madspaniard was out there giving away free European spec T3 parts. I think there were envelops with cookies and a few old pesetas too. 😉 _________________ BenT |

This is hilarious! You guys made my day.
Not a big fan of putting my mugshot out there but since people think I don't really exist, here is a great pic circa Sept 2008 at the Berkeley Marina after returning from an epic windsurfing trip to Baja California after owning the van for just a couple of weeks.

Nope.. He is an urban LEGEND.
Or his van is.. Yeah that's it.. His VAN is an urban legend.
I swear I saw it one day.. parked right in front of my house.
And then it was gone..
..just like that.
Gone.
But if you keep real still.. real quiet.. you can still hear it.. off in the distance.. sounds like... Baja... _________________ -89 GL Westy, SVX.. finally.

This was the first van meet up for my wife and I (4 month old westfalia owners) and we just wanted to say it was great meeting other van owners. We met a lot of people and I'm sure a few of you are on here. We're looking forward to the next event.
As an aside, we got to see just how practical the fridge door installed in the back closet is so if anyone has an extra grey door they're looking to sell... _________________ '89 Westfalia |

I second that. Although I did buy something from him online but that could be a set-up too. |

I enjoyed the show as always. A couple of ladies came up to me and asked if my van had a name, I replied that naming vans is silly ,but if it did have a name it would be "BITCH" .
Unsure if she found the humor in it ,but what the hell .

We are just getting disorganized for 2016. It looks like it will be:
January 24, 2016
That's a Sunday. First announcement was just made today at Vanagon Owners group on Facebook and mentioned on the Vanagon List.
PM, if you need more information. _________________ BenT |

Event reminder. We are 22 days away. I see the date is one day off on the 'event schedule'. I'm assuming mods can fix that. The correct are is 01/24/16 as the subjectline suggests. The event calendar has the 25th which is the wrong date:
bURNINGvAN
Where: Ocean Beach
San Francisco, California
(parking lot on the Great Highway - Highway 1
across the street from the Beach Chalet restaurant)
Date: 01/24/16 Sunday
Time: 12pm - ??? _________________ BenT |
