RDAutomobiles wrote:

This VW was delivered to its original owner by Concord Volkswagen of Concordville, PA, on Jan 15, 1973. Options were the Camper Package, vent windows, AM/FM Radio, a parcel shelf and undercoating, which certainly contributed to the astounding original condition that the van remains in to this day.

It has been meticulously maintained and cared for since, and is simply is one of the best surviving examples of an original 1973 Westfalia Campmobile to be found. To honor the original owner, I have left the removable dash plaque he created to commemorate his ownership in place. He kindly provided all the documentation he religiously kept for the car, so homage is due.

This Westy is a virtual time capsule as a rust-free and accident-free original with 84,000 miles and documented maintenance records.. The vehicle came complete with original order sheet, bill of sale, Protect-o-Plate, the original Owner’s Manual, the Campmobile manual, VW distributers and dealers in North and Central America, Owner’s maintenance and Repair Guide and an official Service Manual, plus a stack of service receipts 2 inches thick.

This Westy has its original interior featuring the mustard yellow vinyl cushions (I am told a holdover from 1972), the original linoleum flooring, curtains have been replaced (with the original and hippie versions included) and perfect interior wood paneling. The driver’s and passenger’s seat are the original, correct off-white basket weave fabric with the original type “horsehair” padding. All the glass is original. The vehicle exterior has just been expertly repainted in the original light tan color. The interior paint is completely original. So is the original pop-top canvas in the correct yellow color complete with the fringe on top as new. All five wheels were painted with five new Continental tires

Everything works correctly on this van, even the original AM/FM radio. The overhead hammock and child front seat cots are like new. The original owner added a reverse warning beeper (very cute sound) that warns people but also assures you that you’re in reverse! He also added two DC outlets in addition to the 110V outlet that came from the factory so you can charge your phone and operate your GPS. He installed a Scat Short Throw Shifter that greatly improves the precision of your shifts.

The other factory options (as shown on the original Bill of Sale) are the package tray and the side vent windows (what luxury!). A custom, snap-in rear screen is provided that lets you keep the rear gate area open and the interior bug-free. With all these vents and screens open in both the van and the pop-up roof, you’ll sleep soundly in fresh air with cross-ventilation.

This vehicle has been meticulously maintained both mechanically and cosmetically with amazing attention to original detail. It is un-molested and un-customized, having the original dual Solex carburetors that start right up and run great. It drives, steers, stops and looks as good as it did in 1973.

The 1.7 liter engine is the same that was used the Porsche 912E and the Porsche 914 series.

This bus has only 117,000 fully documented original miles.
Museum quality UNRESTORED 1974 tin top Riviera with very rare factory Riviera camping tent. Mint original interior. Every receipts from 1978 to 2015 in chronological order in a binder. The bus has its original sales contract and window sticker. This bus was bought new by John Shamburg at Carters Motors in Seattle Washington at a cost of $5355.00 on July 29th 1974. Included is the business card of the sales man (Don Hansen) who sold John the Riviera, original window sticker, sales contract, and manuals. This van has only 117k (FULLY DOCUMENTED) original miles. Original paint in near mint condition ( Neptune Blue paint code l-50k). I had the bumpers and rims including the spare, sand blasted and powder coated to the correct factory colors. Zero cancer rust, even the battery trays are perfect... The front seat upholstery and padding were the only thing replace, every thing else in completely original and mint. Note all the original factory Formica decals and factory decals are still present and never removed (see pictures). The factory linoleum looks new. The rear seat folds down into a bed rear bed. The original door and ignition buzzer still works. Updated retractable three point front seat belt upgrade from GoWesty. Factory tachometer. The hard to find factory window screens are in mint condition. New curtains all the way around including the front snap on curtain. The van comes with its original smog/air pump that was removed for more power, original jack, tools, manuals, seat head rests, and hubcaps.

We' ve been contacted by one of our customer is in Nevada who is selling this AMAZING ALL ORIGINAL vw bus. The FIRST AND UNIQUE owner is now 86 years old and she decided to sell her bus for your highest pleasure. This bus has been used with love and garaged since 1970 by its original and still owner...It' s crazy...As her daughter says, she took care of this bus like someone is taking care of dust in a house.
It' s a 1970 VW bus bay window , 133,000 original miles and engine, excellent condition, original owner, always garaged.
The front of the car was repainted about 7 years ago as was part of the side door on the passenger side. Otherwise, the rest of the paint is original. The tires are also about 7 years old and with her mother, for instance, driving the car in 2015 for only 147 miles, you know they are in excellent condition.
Brakes, engine and everything else is of course in working condition and have been perfectly maintained since 1970
Her parents really protected the inside of the car. They had to sit on sheets covering the seats so there aren't any holes, scratches on the upholstery. All seats have the seat belts.

The bus is all original with the exception of one repaint in its factory rare and desirable Kasan Red (L30-B), new front seat upholstery, and new door panels. Rare factory A/C and factory working propane furnace. The van sleeps 4 (2 below and 2 up top on a slide out bunk). The van has ample storage compared to a standard pop top camper. The rear seat also converts into a sectional style dinette or seating area for 4, seat belts for 4, on board potable water (11 gallon tank) and a factory rare grey water tank (12 gallon) with a sink, 2 burner propane stove and super rare factory propane furnace with adjustable thermostat, super rare awning with its ultra rare factory tent, attached and stow-able side entry step and propane tank. The interior is in near mint original condition, factory upper window screens, metal pot with spigot that is used to heat water on the stove, super rare factory tent and awning as well as factory snap on bug screens for all the windows including the front door windows, upper screens for the sliding windows, has its original dual cup holder that mounts between the front seats or on the dash on the passenger side under the glove box. The van has a very durable and handy (stock) metal roof vent that opens and closes very similar to one you would find on a newer Vanagon Westfalia. Auxiliary battery set up with solenoid isolator. integrated trailer hitch/receiver that bolts directly to the frame. This van came stock with AC.
