Just out of curiosity, why are the VINs needed to do this.

On a similar note, I'm compiling a database of how far people were born from me, and what they like to buy.
So if you could all just message me your social security and credit card numbers, that'd be awesome. |

But seriously, folks, this is great work Geo!
I'm not a total spreadsheet/Google dummy, but how do I enter my data again? Tried on the spreadsheet but it is Read Only...
thanks for pulling this together! _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i

Awesome, but a couple things.
When I tried the link to the google form, it got some wierd block that wouldnt let me in (maybe because I am at work...ahaha).
Is there a way we can edit? I put in the wrong paint code and needs to be updated. Not sure how it would be easiest to edit (to update current city, or mileage, etc.) but it would a nice feature.
None the less, great work on this and thanks a ton for putting it together. I originally didnt think there was much interest...then it blew up. |

Updated the link in the OP. Nice work.
Reentered my van's info too.
To repeat here on page 3: The entire VIN is not required for the Vanagon Registry! _________________ ~Kamz

Thanks for the updated link!
If I re-enter my vans information (with say just the paint code different), will it add a duplicate entry? |

Cool idea and one I should probably consider doing for the Scirocco world. I put my information in on my non-van and I am all snuggled up just below Kammy in the registry. _________________ -1989 Syncro Tristar TDi on Air Ride

Wow! That exploded! Guess that's what happens when you post it on Facebook! Please feel free to share the link on any other VW forum or FB page or whatever...4 hours after it went up there's already 24 vans on there!
Again, as Kamz has repeated:
YOU DON"T NEED TO ENTER YOUR VIN!!
It only asks for the date code letter, and the last 6 numbers.
And here's the link for the form again:
VANAGON REGISTRY:
http://goo.gl/forms/QIiFT0zKhM
There's a link to the spreadsheet of all the data on that form, but it's here if you need:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KbbXgSINdq5EaBeuma6-yf74z2wtSBWrZPal7kd0cm0/edit?usp=sharing
I'm still learning Google Forms so unfortunately it's a one shot deal entering data right now. Let me know if there's something you need fixed! 91Syncro and I are starting to collaborate a bit to try and fine tune it.
Glad this is being so well received! A little appreciation and now I'll never get back to work!
Thanks everyone! _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

Right now if you added the same van twice it would add the same van twice. Someone from Quebec already did that. I'll work on primary key indexing at some point. If you want it changed let me know. _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

Yeah I just copied that from the "Share" button and assumed it was the same as before...wasn't, but worked for me. Changed the link back to what I had before and what KAMZ quoted

For some reason the columns with longer text (like AB 'Other notes...) only show what fits in the cell on the new entries, though your initial entries have larger cells. |
Not sure what you mean? The read-only spreadsheet of all the entries wasn't originally sized to show much text, but I resized and wrapped the text now...should be able to see it all? _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

Up to 39 Vans so far! Only a few 10's of 1000s to go!
Thanks to those who re-entered their data!
So far the average vehicle is a Dove Blue 1985 US Westy 2wd 4 speed with a 1.9L
Average age is a 1987 and average length of ownership 10 years.

Anyone know of other registries we can pilfer data from? _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

In case you didn't notice - once you follow the offered link, do not click on the link to the spreadsheet, but rather scroll down and click on 'Continue >>' to get to the form for entry. |

That got me too...maybe make it more obvious for those of us who are low-key link-challenged? _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i

I added "TO ENTER A VEHICLE PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS PAGE AND CLICK THE "CONTINUE" BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM." as the first line...sorry about that, hopefully didn't throw too many people off!

You can thank my regular job, which is probably wondering what's taking me so long on getting some reports done... _________________ ---------------------------------------------------
