did a few things:
Changed out the old transmission mounts. They were toast.
Then checked the clutch:
Looks normal, not soaked in oil like I thought it would be.
what could cause this weird wear?
Same thing here. Not soak in oil.
Could the wear on the clutch input be from the ring on the pressure plate? _________________ Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

Does the pressure plate thrust ring have matching scars? That throwout bearing looks kinda different. See if it has matching scars. |

Drove down to the Mid Atlantic to visit my brother and pick up some parts from Russ aka "russbus". New 1776 with few miles, spare big nut tranny with many big nut parts to go with it, and heater boxes. Good haul from this weekend.

Went to work on the engine I got from Russ today. I took the alternator off and put the generator from the old engine. Cleaned up the tin, removed the frozen flaps, and changed the stand.
Old Alternator:
New generator:
Gotta clean up this mess. Any suggestions:
Rob gave me a set of these cool screens for camping that cover pop out windows!

Slammed engine in last week with a fresh sachs kit form bugcity in Berlin CT. Motor has gobs of power and runs like a top! Only funky thing is since it its AJ coded motor its has no mechanical fuel pump. So Russ suggested a electric fuel pump. This is a FI case built up to a 1776. So far so good.

I had a '66 panel w/ sliding door in high school, '74-'75
Way fun van.
The one I should have picked up was a '65 double door slider deluxe that I found in Idaho, never seen another one. |

Not bad but that interior needs some work. My thoughts if I was restoring a bus like that and spending coin like that I would at least make the seats look og and not that Barrett Jackson puke. _________________ Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

From the TO bearing or PP ring. Had even worse problem with the disc casting being fatter there and would not let the clutch disengage the engine from the transaxle. Required pulling the engine and grinding down that center disc area slightly. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I ended up replacing the whole clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing with a sach kit. Solved the problem. _________________ Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

The bus has been pushing along all summer with no issues. Had to stop at the town water tower for a quick pick.
Took the bus to Flanders All Air Cooled gathering. I haven’t driven the bus over the tapanzee bridge in many years. Very cool show.
The last show of the year is always transporterfest. A little cold and wet but always a great swap.

Such a cool bus and great camp / show photos. Did you get any parts from the swap or just check it out? _________________ "I set sail for the new world, then I burned down the mast.... It wasn't the first time, and I know it wont be the last..." Bloodkin
