Stripped nut on water pump - 1987 Westy

While torquing down a new water pump the upper nut(easiest to access) stripped before I got it to 15 ft lbs. Now it won't tighten or come off the stud.

Any suggestions?

or a nut cracker (fits over the nut & has a screw driven blade at 90o to cut the nut w/o damage to the male fastener
