Sorry all, I know Ive seen this info in a thread somewhere but I haven't been able to find it again. Would anyone be able to tell me the meaning of "4W" and a "30" on the generator stand of a 1958 36hp case?
cheers

Various factory inspector stamps? Does the crankcase have any "exchange" or rebuilt stampings in it other than the numbers you mentioned and the actual crankcase number on the generator stand area? Perhaps you can post a photo of the marks you have?

Thanks for the help. I know id seen them before.
It seems to me the "4" is actually a round profile drift
Cheers
