I've just sent this inquiry to Chris at T3 Technique regarding their custom wheel spacers and would like to have comments from TheSambans
"I recently purchased an '87 2WD pop top Vanagon. The PO did a lift and put on 16" wheels with two xC26-603-108 - 5X130MM WHEEL SPACER - 8MM OR 5/16-INCH THICK spacers on each wheel. I've recently put on new front tires and had an alignment. It was PITA to get the wheels and spacers lined up for the lug bolts. I pulled a front wheel and measured the thickness of the two spacers as 15.5 mm. I am considering purchasing your wheel spacers, but considering that everything is put together, if it works don't fix it.
I would appreciate your professional comments.
Aloha

Hub centric spacers should not be a problem taking wheels on and off. I am a big fan of lug nuts vs lug bolts when mounting a wheel. Funny how on the 2wd vanagon VW used studs in the rear and bolts in the front. I have since added studs to the front that I got from T3. Changing a front wheel is a pleasure now. Wheel spacers with lug bolts would be a double pain. _________________ ☮️ |

I agree with rsxsr, I run lug nuts on the front and don't have a problem aligning the spacers. T3Techniques sells the studs and the lug nuts you will need. If it is this hard on your driveway, imagine how much it would suck out on the side of the road. Add the studs and eliminate the frustration. _________________ Tim Potts

There is always the option of using pins.
That's what I use, 2 pins for each spacer, have to drill into the spacer and hub of course, but it keeps it in place. _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,
